Grace Food Bank

Who are we?

Grace Food Bank is a voluntary community organisation that provides emergency food supplies to people in S8 and the surrounding areas who are unable to feed themselves and their families.

We have been running since 2013 years and are one of 15 foodbanks in Sheffield.

Why do people need help?

There are many reasons why people need help from the foodbank. Some of the most common are:

  • People are waiting for the first payment of a new benefit claim.
  • People aren’t being paid all the benefits they should be.
  • People find themselves with an unexpected expense or bill.

At Dore Methodist Church we have been supporting the Grace Food Bank for many years, initially by having collection boxes in our church and hall.

During Covid lockdowns when our buildings were closed, we started a fortnightly door-step collection from church members and this still continues today. In addition we have a collection box in our hall for gifts from people who attend activities held there. Each fortnight we collect a full car load of food and deliver it to the food bank. When we celebrate our Harvest Festival all the gifts we collect are also taken to the food bank.

Our collection dates for 2025 are as follows:

February  10th and 24th

March  10th and 24th

April  14th and 28th

May  5th and 19th
